It is a beautiful June day when Bobby and I pull up to Toigo Orchards in Pennsylvania, the site of a very special engagement shoot, with Kerry and Danny. Danny's family owns the orchard, so it only seems natural that the farm boy would want to show off his future bride amongst the fruit trees.
"Do you guys have any apples?" I ask, naively assuming, it's an orchard, right?
"Well, the apples won't be here until later in the season. Right now we've got strawberries and cherries. The peaches and nectarines are just starting to come in."
Woah, impressive fruit knowledge. Kerry smiles calmly at Danny as he reassures me that he can find one in storage. The golden delicious he rustles up for us makes a beautiful backdrop for Kerry's diamond, a family heirloom.
These high school sweethearts know each other well. Kerry's quiet and caring demeanor is a perfect opposite to Danny's goofball antics. No strangers to hard work; Kerry is a pediatric nurse, while Danny sees many an early morning on the farm. But today, it's all about fun. Less than 3 months until the big day!
During the shoot, I can't help but think that the next time we photograph these two it will be their wedding day. What a gift to document this special time in their lives together! Ah, love...
As the sun starts to fade into the Pennsylvania hills, we bid goodbye to our bride and groom, who send us off with a bounty of produce, sauces, and salsa. The Motherload! Thank you Toigo Orchards! Congratulations to Kerry and Danny! See you this fall!!!
